Jesus is excited about prayer and invites us. Because He knows the Father, He is willing to even take the risk of being misunderstood in vs. 8: "for everyone who asks, receives...seeks, finds...knocks, it will be open." Do you see the Father this way?

Thanks. I guess it is a gift from God to be given things that I care enough about to cause me to do more than ask, but to really seek and knock.

I was asking, seeking, and knocking on this health care issue, but it passed anyway. :(

I've "knocked" about things in the past throughout my life, and God has blessed. I am convinced He does want to give us good things. It may not always be exactly what we ask for, but His answer is always good, and according to His will.
I'm knocking now for something and I'm realizing, no matter the answer, He is Almighty God! And, the best gift He could ever give, He has already given in Jesus His Son. His blood washes away my past, present, and future sin. That is humbling and I am grateful. So, I'm still going to keep "knocking" but I'll praise Him whatever happens.
